FAQ

Are all your pieces handmade?

Yes, I make all ceramics pieces by hand in my Haarlem studio. Either on the wheel or building by hand. Every piece is crafted individually, which means slight variations in shape, size, and color are to be expected —adding to the uniqueness of each item.

How can I care for my ceramic pieces?

While all pieces are dishwasher-safe, handwashing ensures their longevity. To keep your ceramics looking their best, I recommend hand washing them with warm, soapy water.

Can I use my ceramics in the microwave or oven?

Most of my ceramics are microwave-safe, but I recommend avoiding sudden temperature changes, like moving from the fridge to the microwave, as this can cause cracking. As for the oven, my pieces can generally withstand moderate oven temperatures (up to 200°C/390°F), but it's best to avoid placing them directly into a preheated oven to prevent thermal shock.

Do you offer custom or personalized pieces?

I occasionally take on special requests for custom or personalized pieces, as long as they align with my design style and capabilities. Since each creation is unique, I want to ensure that I can deliver something that truly fits both your vision and my approach. If you have a specific idea in mind, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss whether it’s a good match.

Can I send a ceramic piece as a gift to someone else?

Yes, you can absolutely gift ceramics to someone special! During checkout, simply enter the recipient’s shipping address, and send me an email/dm if you’d like to include a personal note and have it gift wrapped.

What are your shipping options?

I ship worldwide. Delivery times may vary depending on your location. Items purchased via the website are usually send within 3 workdays after receiving the order. Please not that the customer is responsible for any taxes that may apply within the country receiving the package. All ceramics are carefully packaged to ensure they arrive safely.

Is it possible to pick up my order?

Yes, local pickup is available at Studio Tickle in Haarlem, Nijverheidsweg 42. Simply select ‘local pickup’ during checkout. You’ll receive an email notification when your order is ready for pickup.

What is your return policy?

If you’re not satisfied with your order, please contact me at hello@studiotickle.com. Unfortunately, I cannot accept returns for items that are damaged by third parties or damaged after use.

Do I need any experience to join a workshop?

No experience is necessary. Our workshops are designed for both beginners and those with some experience. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance throughout the session, so you can create your own ceramic piece from scratch.

What should I bring to a workshop?

Just bring yourself! All materials and tools are provided, and I recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy. Aprons are also available. For the best experience, I suggest trimming your nails before the workshop—shorter nails make it easier to handle the clay and avoid making unwanted dents in your piece.

Is there parking available at your studio?

Yes, there is free parking available just in front of the studio. You are welcome to visit the studio by car, bike or public transport. The nearest train station is Spaarnwoude. From there, it's a 15-minute walk to the studio.

Can I book a private workshop or group event?

Yes, I offer private workshops for groups, perfect for events like birthdays, kids parties, team-building sessions, or a creative outing with friends. Contact me via hello@studiotickle.com for availability and pricing.

How long does it take to complete my ceramic piece from the workshop?

After your workshop, your piece will need to be dried, fired, glazed and sanded, which typically takes around 3-4 weeks. You’ll be notified when your piece is ready for pick-up or shipping.
