Hi, I’m Maartje

Originally from Brabant, now based in Haarlem, where a career in branding somehow turned into clay-stained hands.

After studying psychology, fashion and branding, most days were spent behind a laptop. Evenings became a way to step away from the screen and start making with my hands. Different creative hobbies came and went, but clay stayed. The mix of hands-on making, creativity and technique is what I love most.

What started as a hand-building workshop about five years ago quickly turned into many. Hand-building became wheel throwing, followed by a first wheel and kiln at home, with pieces made in my small garden. Then winter came, and more space was needed. One thing led to another, and Studio Tickle was born.

Now it’s a cozy place to slow down, make something with your hands, and get creatively tickled. Find handmade pieces for your home or join a workshop and create your own.
